Five Tips for Adding Personal Touches to Your Wedding

Between planning every last detail of the ceremony and throwing a divine reception, much of what makes you unique as a couple can get lost.  Not too worry!  We have created a cheat sheet for the top five ways you can add those personal touches back and make your day unique and sentimental.

1. Embrace Your Personality.  Are you the class clown, a college football fanatic or a devout dog lover?  Place your personalities front and center.  Consider your college color when choosing a color palate or make your pooch the ring bearer.  Staying true to you is the key to an unique wedding experience.

2. Include Heirlooms.  Heirlooms are our favorite “something old.”  Whether it is your grandmother’s pearls or soon to be mother-in-law’s veil, adding heirlooms remind you of the strong foundation you have to build upon.  For something different, try adding small photos of loved one that are no longer here to your bouquet or using a family treasure as a centerpiece.

3. Decorate with Photos.  A picture really is worth a thousand words.  Tell your story with imaginative picture displays. Set up a photo screen at the book table or make photo confetti to decorate tables.  Guests and family love to look at pictures so get creative and have fun.

4. Honor your Guests.  Sure they are there to celebrate you, but most of your guests have contributed to your lives and made you who you are.  Show them your appreciation by including them in one of your biggest moments. Acknowledge guests by writing small handwritten notes on each place card or pass your bridal bouquet on to the couple that has been married the longest.

5. Celebrate Traditions.  Starting a new life doesn’t mean forgetting the old one.  Ask both sides what traditions they observe at weddings and include at least one from each family.

Do you have any suggestions on how to add personal touches to a wedding?  We would love to hear them and so would all the busy brides!  Leave us a comment below.
